May 2016

My name is Mark Oldfield; I am the new chairman at Harrogate Hospital Radio.

I have been a volunteer at HHR since September 2013 after attending an open day at the hospital in August 2013.

I have previously worked part time at The Pulse radio station in Bradford as a technical operator and in my early days at Huddersfield Hospital Radio.

I have lived here in Harrogate since October 2015, having previously commuted from Skipton.

I work as Sales Development Manager for a lighting manufacturer in Skipton, covering The UK, Ireland and The Benelux countries, so lots of travel involved.

I currently present two shows on the station; “Feel Good Friday”, 4pm-6pm on Friday’s and “Free and Easy” on Saturday mornings 9am-11am.

I regularly present on our flag-ship request show which can be heard from 8-10pm weekday nights and repeated the following day. I really enjoy it as it is music and dedications chosen from our patients at Harrogate District Hospital.

My aim is to promote Harrogate Hospital Radio and make sure along with the great team here we continue to provide a great radio station for Harrogate District Hospital.

We have some fantastic shows on Harrogate Hospital Radio here are just some highlights for May 2016:

  • “Manning At The Movies” Join Steve Pexton and John Manning as they review a wide range of films and special showings at the Odeon here in Harrogate.
  • “Joshua Dykes Alternative Music Show”, Wednesday’s 6-8pm. Joshua plays some of the newest indie music as well as some well known tracks from the past few decades.
  • Ruth Stapleton’ s “Soundtrack Sunday” 8-9am. Ruth takes you through the best from the stage and screen, West End and Broadway shows.
  • “The Sunday Supplement” with Steve Pexton and Ann Kilroy. The show includes your horoscopes and a quiz, along with words of wisdom with a member of the hospital chaplaincy, just after 3pm.

So, if you are ever in hospital at Harrogate District Hospital, be sure to tune in!
