October 18

Hello and welcome to my October blog.

Well here we are, another year older, 41 years broadcasting at Harrogate District Hospital, it doesn’t seem that long ago we were celebrating our 40th birthday at Bilton Working Men’s Club last October!

Lots has gone on over the past year and trust me there is lots more to come very soon here at Harrogate Hospital Radio.

Last month we had the pleasure of interviewing two people who ran marathons for the Friends of Harrogate Hospital.

Jonathan Tullet interviewed Sammy Lambert, Business Development Manager here at the hospital, and I had the pleasure of interviewing Ann Pinkney, who ran the Great North Run in Newcastle. Both interviews are on our “listen again” section on our website.

If you walk down the corridor from the reception (on your right hand side) you might like to stop and look at our display cabinet and see some recent pictures of various guests who we have had the pleasure of interviewing.

It’s almost that time of year again, yes Christmas will soon be here, and once again Harrogate Hospital Radio will be selling our raffle tickets. Once again there are some fabulous prizes up for grabs including our first price of £150 cash.

Ellie Jackson, our fundraising officer at HHR, and some of our members will be in the hospital reception selling raffle tickets on the following dates:

Monday, November 26
Wednesday, November 28
Monday, December 3

Last year we raised over £1,000. Let’s see if we raise that amount again or even better beat it !.

On Sunday, November 4, we are back at the Royal Oak, at Dacre Banks, for our quiz night. Tickets cost £2.50 and that includes a pie and pea supper. The start time is 20.00hrs, and we recommend you book a table by calling 01423 780200 it gets very busy.

Until next month, keep tuned to Harrogate Hospital Radio via our app and online.

Best wishes, get well soon
